I’ve had an extraordinary career, and I’m genuinely proud of every chapter of it. It started with hairdressing. I completed my trade apprenticeship at 17, winning Work Skills Australia, and threw myself into competitions from the very beginning. Over those years I took home many first and second places. At 20, I won the West Australian Golden Scissor Award, and at just 22 I was chosen as a finalist for the prestigious AHA Australian Hairdresser of the Year Newcomer Award. I was also invited by Schwarzkopf and other global companies to present cutting and colouring education on the latest trends. I’ve always loved being at the forefront of creativity, developing looks before they become the next big thing.
That passion for creativity led me naturally into makeup. One day on a shoot, I looked at a model and asked if I could change something. I picked up the brushes and instantly knew... I should do this. So I did, and I never looked back. I love learning. I love growing. I love the constant evolution of this craft.
I worked in high-end salons offering hair and makeup services, building a clientele that stretched from everyday clients to commercial shoots and industry education. Then I travelled to Europe, living and working in London and Paris. In London I worked across diverse salons, broadening my skills enormously. In Paris I worked for a theatre group called Tamérantong. It was an incredible, life-changing experience.
Returning to Perth, I moved into the next exciting chapter of my career, becoming Head Hair and Makeup Artist at Channel 7 Perth for many years. I managed hair, makeup, and wardrobe. I was in my element. I love beauty. I love perfection. I love making people feel amazing.
I later married and had two beautiful boys, and together we’ve travelled and lived far and wide, which gave me the opportunity to keep adding to my skill set. I added eyelash extensions, cosmetic tattooing, brows, lips and eyeliner, and became a brow specialist. This gave me an even deeper understanding of facial symmetry and the art of framing a face beautifully. My most recent certification, received three years ago, was skin needling, and it has blown me away. The results I have seen are truly incredible!
Back in Perth, my beauty, makeup and hair work has spanned editorial, commercial, television, film, and events, alongside my personal clients. I’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible people along the way. And don’t get me wrong, there have been many late nights, extra study, and a lot of hard work over the years.
But now, at 52, I look back over this career and it fills me with joy. I feel truly ready for this next chapter... taking everything I know and passing it on. Helping people build a skill set with my knowledge and capability, and be armed with the right information to help build a person’s confidence, so they can make great decisions about their looks, their skin, their hair and makeup, and feel really good about themselves, every single day.
